Karla Pate McClure
LCSW-C, Master’s in Social Work (MSW)
M.S. Clinical Psychology/Adolescence
Karla McClure is a licensed clinical therapist with extensive experience delivering evidence-based mental health services to adolescents and families across educational, clinical, and community-based settings. Her practice is grounded in trauma-informed care, developmental psychology, and culturally responsive therapeutic interventions, with a strong emphasis on measurable outcomes and data-informed treatment planning.
Karla currently serves as a school-based therapist supporting elementary, middle, and high school students, providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) aligned with school and district behavioral health frameworks. Her work includes applying standardized assessment tools and psychosocial evaluations to inform targeted interventions and track student progress over time.
In higher education, Karla served as a College Therapist at Lane College, a Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) institution, where she supported emerging adults as they navigated the complex intersections of mental health, academic performance, identity formation, and life transitions. Her clinical approach integrates cognitive-behavioral, trauma-responsive, and strengths-based modalities.
Karla also contributed to Sheppard Pratt’s Early Psychosis Intervention Network (EPINET), a nationally recognized research and treatment collaborative focused on adolescents and young adults experiencing early-onset psychotic disorders. In this role, she supported coordinated specialty care models and participated in data-driven treatment approaches designed to improve long-term psychiatric outcomes.
Her research portfolio includes psychosocial analysis using SPSS to examine trauma exposure, behavioral health outcomes, and resilience factors among youth in underserved communities. She has conducted and contributed to studies analyzing the effects of community violence on family systems, with particular attention to Ward 8 in Washington, DC. This work explores the multigenerational impact of violence on attachment, emotional regulation, academic engagement, and family stability, providing insights that inform both clinical interventions and community-based prevention strategies.
Education: Master’s in Clinical Psychology (specialization in Adolescence), Howard University; Master’s in Social Work, University of Maryland, College Park.
